To the single mom...

mother-walking-with-a-child-in-the-woodsYou're a rockstar. Seriously. I have always admired you, but there are certain times when I become especially aware of just how strong you are. This week was one of those times. BJ went out of town for the first time since the littlest one was born and the boys and I hacked it out together. Motherhood with tiny people means that I'm always tired, but this week, that exhaustion felt heavier. Somewhere in the extra trips to the dumpster, the dishes in the sink, and the creaking noises coming from my walls, my mind turned to you, my beautiful, fierce friends. And all I can say is that you are a force to be reckoned with...

for the noses you wiped, the diapers you changed and the all-nighters you pulled...

for the decisions you made, the bills you managed, and the mental energy you poured out...

for the dark nights you walked around your house to search out an unknown sound, the doctor visits you left work to make happen, and the meals you prepared after being away all day...

for the routines you implemented, the discipline you enforced, and the bedroom walls you painted...

for the motivation you mustered on difficult mornings, the middle-of-the-night trips to the pharmacy, and the birthday parties planned...

for the knees kissed, the tears dried, and the stories read...

for your courage, devotion and strength...my admiration and respect for you runs deep. You love with such sacrifice and you do it with grace. You are mighty women. If you forget that this weekend and need a little encouragement, remember this - you are a rockstar. And your babies are so blessed to call you their mama.
